No injuries following St. Patrick's Day shooting

By Scott Harvey

– A Greenville man is behind bars following a shooting in Commerce where dozens of people had gathered on St. Patrick's Day.

Police received a call of shots fired in the 100 block of Sunrise at around 6 p.m. Thursday where they recovered several shell casings and bullets that had struck an apartment.

An officer who arrived immediately following the shooting witnessed approximately 60 persons, including children, scrambling in a panic trying to flee the area. There were no reports of any injuries.

Officers quickly obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and provided it to area law enforcement agencies.

Commerce Police later learned that a man driving a vehicle matching the description had been arrested by the Ladonia Police Department for possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm. The man was also expected to be charged with deadly conduct by discharging a firearm at a habitation/building. His name was not immediately released.
