No major accidents due to ice, but several school closings

By Scott Harvey

Hunt County appears to have dodged a bullet. That's according to Hunt County Fire Marshall Richard Hill, who says despite the inclement weather, no major traffic accidents have been reported, nor any major power outages, as of early Wednesday morning.

Hill says the main concern among officials was the potential that ice would weigh down power lines, which may cause them to fall resulting in power failure in some areas. Northeast Texas representative with Oncore Stan McKey tells KETR it's been just another typical day so far.

Residents are advised to be cautious if you must go outside, especially on the roadways. Ice has cause several school closings and delays Wednesday, including closings at both Texas A&M University-Commerce and Commerce ISD campuses. A complete list of closings and delays is available on our website ketr dot org.
