North Hopkins ISD to Fill Multiple Openings

The North Hopkins ISD Board of Trustees met for a meeting on Thursday, March 31 to accept the resignations of several staff members including: Julie Smith, Curtis Smith, Jeff Percell, Garrett Todd, and Kadee Todd, effective at the end of the school year. Following executive session at approximately 7 p.m. all other teachers had their contracts renewed.

The Board and administration discussed the multiple issues occurring with the website and grade book. All Trustees were present for the meeting along with Superintendent Donna George, who has announced her retirement, High School Principal Rob Stanley, Elementary Principal LeAnn Tadlock, Assistant Principal Tim Henderson, staff members Jan Vaughn and Dee Melton and invited guest Von Gallagher.

The Board discussed the financial report and examined several costly expenditures including a four night hotel stay for coaches at the State Basketball Tournament before accepting the report 7-0.

Concerned parent Cindy Roller, being the only public member present, spoke during public forum on the athletic program issues currently being experienced.

Principals reported on the campus happenings with estimated enrollment reports due again to computer technicalities. Principal Stanley said the County show was excellent with several participants making livestock sales. He also noted the success of the One Act Play performance. He said the FFA auction and stew will be held on April 15 at 6 p.m. and UIL academic event will be on April 6 at Martin’s Mill.

The Board was updated on possible future construction projects by consultant Von Gallagher. He discussed roof repairs, warranties and prepared a list for members to review with “estimates.”

The next regular meeting of the NISD Board of Trustees will be on Thursday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the administration building.
