North Lamar staying with five-day school week

By Kevin Jefferies

Paris-North lamar – The North Lamar ISD likely will not be moving to a four-day school week. Superintendent James Dawson gave his recommendation to the North Lamar school board this week to remain with the current five-day schedule.

The district began studying the possibility of moving to a four-day week in efforts to save money with rising fuel and utility costs. Response was varied to the proposal. Most high school students polled were against the move, but many were in favor of the change in an online poll through the district's website.

The North Lamar ISD would have saved around $200,000 with the move to a four-day week.
