Northeast Texas: New faces in 2015

U.S. Rep. John Ratcliffe
KERA

John Ratcliffe and Bob Hall didn't grab any headlines on Election Night. That's because their dramatic victories occurred in the Republican primary runoff elections earlier this year. Once those victories were secured, it was all over except for the inevitable elephant stampede, as GOP candidates rumbled to yet another dominant showing in Northeast Texas.

John Ratcliffe was unopposed in his bid to represent the 4th Congressional District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives. Ratcliffe won the Republican nomination with a defeat of Ralph Hall, who has represented Northeast Texas in Washington, D.C., since 1981.

Bob Hall will represent Texas Senate District 2 in Austin in 2015. Hall did have to defeat Libertarian Don Bates, but did so handily. Hall will replace Bob Deuell, who lost by a narrow margin to Hall in the May runoff.

Election results for Texas statewide and regional offices are available from the Texas Tribune here.

Mark Haslett has served at KETR since 2013. Since then, the station's news operation has enjoyed an increase in listener engagement and audience metrics, as well recognition in the Texas AP Broadcasters awards.
