Northeast Texas Trail Welcomes Hikers, Riders, Bikers

Northeast Texas Trail

Jack Neal, the executive director of the Northeast Texas Trail, says the trail extends 130 miles from Farmersville on the west through 19 towns and seven counties to New Boston on the east. It follows the former right-of-way along the Union Pacific and Chaparral railroads.  The trail is available for hikers, horseback riders and bicycle riders, some of it paved within city limits.  Other parts of the trail have a fine gravel surface. Access to the trail is free.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
