Not guilty plea given in marijuana plane case

heraldbanner.com

A Florida man has pleaded not guilty to a charge filed in connection with a 2010 incident in which bags full of marijuana were dumped out of a plane flying across Hunt County.

Randall Thomas May, 52, of Palm Bay Fla., is being held in the Hunt County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond on a charge of  possession of between 50 and 2,000 pounds of marijuana.

May was arraigned on the indictment and entered the not guilty plea during a Tuesday morning hearing in the 354th District Court. May was indicted by the Hunt County grand jury December 13 and was taken into custody by the Brevard County Florida Sheriff’s Office the same day.

May is the second individual charged in connection with the incident. Darin William Fayne was found not guilty by a jury of the same charge in September.

Six duffel bags believed connected to a plane abandoned early the morning of July 19, 2010 at the Caddo Mills Municipal Airport have been recovered.

The street value of the more than 200 pounds of hydroponic marijuana has been estimated at up to $1.5 million.
