Officials address highway project, city-county contract

DELTA COUNTY - Delta County Commissioners have approved a resolution in support of funding right-of-way acquisition and utility adjustment costs for the expansion of State Highway 24.

TxDot recently announced the approval of the widening of a ten mile section of the roadway, which runs from the Hunt-Delta County line to just south of Cooper.

Commissioners also agreed to appoint Fire Marshal Jack Kiley of Pecan Gap as the Local Rabies Control Authority.

The Cooper City Council recently tabled an item referencing a contract with the County Sheriff’s Office that states a deputy would be available within the city to answer calls at all times. But Sheriff Gerald Teague says that currently isn’t possible with a limited staff.
