The weekend saw several new citizens elected to office while other cities brought back incumbents for another term.
In Fannin County, residents approved three bond propositions, one of which had eluded the Bonham ISD for the past four years. After failing on a couple of bond packages at nearly $30 million, roughly 70 percent of citizens Saturday voted in favor of a $7 million bond toward improvements to I.W. Evans Intermediate. In Trenton, citizens approved the sale of all alcoholic beverages, including mixed drinks.
Elsewhere throughout the region, the Paris Junior College Board of Regents selected new members as did the Hunt and Hopkins County hospital districts. And officials in Leonard will consider this week how to fill the second vacancy on its council, which ended in a tie Saturday.
