Officials conduct hearing for Officer Massey

By Scott Harvey

Paris – An administrative hearing has concluded for the Paris police officer who was disciplined following a November incident.

Officer Jeremy Massey had appealed the decision by the department to discipline him, after he was seen on a fellow officer's dashboard camera struggling with an arrested young man.

Hearing examiner Harold Moore heard two days of testimony, and says he will deliver his opinion within the next 30 days.

The video showed Massey tossing an arrested and handcuffed Cornelius Gill onto the hood of the police cruiser. After reviewing the video several times, Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley declared Massey used unnecessary force and suspended him for two days without pay.

Massey had asked for his suspension to be rescinded and he be paid for the two days.
