Officials hope to start spring semester at new school

SULPHUR SPRINGS - Sulphur Springs ISD administrators this week learned that their new Middle School, originally scheduled for completion this November, will instead be finished in December.

The more than 160,000 square foot school located along Highway 11 south of the city is part of a $48.4 million bond approved by voters in 2009. Crews broke ground on the new school last summer.

The two-story facility features standard science lab and fine arts classrooms. Three student computer labs and a state of the art media center will take advantage of the latest technology.

District officials are still hopeful that students can move into the new facility after Christmas vacation.
