Officials to meet with Commerce hit-and-run suspect

By Brad Kellar

Commerce – A Commerce man will likely remain in jail even after his aggravated assault bond was reduced.

Federal immigration authorities reportedly still want to talk to Abraham Gonzalez, who was arrested last September for allegedly hitting and seriously injuring two people in Commerce with his vehicle then fleeing the scene.

Gonzalez's bond was lowered Monday to $5,000 personal recognizance. However, he was still being held as of Monday afternoon for Immigrations and Custom's Enforcement.

The alleged hit-and-run occurred on September 9, 2009 at the intersection of Pine and Oak Streets.
