Officials ramp up force in fighting animal cruelty

GREENVILLE - The Hunt County Commissioners Court this week entered into an agreement with the SPCA of Texas.

Colby Grady is the chief investigator with the organization who specializes in animal cruelty cases. Grady will work as a deputy constable under Precinct 1 Constable Terry Jones.

Jones says area law enforcement has been dealing with an increasing number of calls concerning animal cruelty during the year’s record drought.

The county’s only cost is a $100 bond for Grady’s commission.

Meanwhile, a custody hearing is scheduled for Friday in Greenville concerning the recent seizure of nine dogs from a Hunt County property, which were reported to have been abandoned.
