Officials seize dozens of animals in Delta County

By Scott Harvey

Cooper – Over 100 dogs were seized from a Delta County property Monday in an alleged case of animal cruelty.

Sheriff's deputies and the SPCA of Texas also removed seven donkeys, four chinchillas and one cockatiel.

The dogs were reportedly kept in pens and forced to live in sewage, a mixture of mud, urine and feces.

The SPCA had been working with the animal owner for three months to bring the animals' living conditions into compliance, but as the situation worsened, officials agreed further action needed to be taken.

The animals were transported to a shelter in McKinney to be cared for.
