Officials to sponsor another recycling contest

Mar 10, 2012

GREENVILLE - The City of Greenville and Keep Greenville Beautiful (KGB) are sponsoring a second contest to encourage more Greenville residents to use the 64-gallon blue carts for recycling.

Existing blue cart users and those who sign up to receive a blue recycling cart by March 23, 2012, will be entered into a drawing to win a Kindle Fire provided by KGB. The Garden Show will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Civic Center, 5501 Hwy. 69 South, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drawing will be held at 2 p.m. during the Garden Show.

It is not necessary to be present to win. If you already pay the $1.00 per month fee and have a blue recycling cart, you are already entered into the drawing. If you would like to begin using the blue cart, just call 903-457-3116 and provide your name, address and telephone number and agree to pay the $1.00 per month charge and you will be entered in the drawing. The $1.00 per month charge for the blue cart is added to your utility bill.

The City of Greenville offers free curbside recycling to all residential garbage customers. A free 18-gallon bin is provided for storing recycling until the weekly collection day. For just $1.00 per month, customers can get a 64-gallon blue cart that makes recycling even easier. This cart holds almost four times as much recycling, and because it has wheels, it is easy to roll to the curb on collection day.

So much can be recycled now (a list of acceptable items is available on the City’s website), and recycling is EASY! No sorting is required, just toss it all into the cart and roll it to the curb. The more material that is recycled, the less goes into the landfill. It is a win-win for everyone. If you would like a blue recycling cart, just call 903-457-3116. If you sign up by March 24, 2012, you will be registered to win a Kindle Fire. If you already use a blue cart, THANK YOU! You are already registered for the drawing.
