One dead, one arrested in late night shooting

One person has died following a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 30.

At around 1:17 a.m., Greenville Police responded to a call in the 3800 block of Spencer Street of a shots being fired. When first responders arrived, they found 48-year-old Curtis Wayne Gray, of Greenville, had been shot. Gray was pronounced dead on the scene, according to a press release from the Greenville Police Department.

An investigation in the the murder of Gray led police to 61-year-old, local attorney Royal Lynn Mullins. Mullins was placed in Hunt County Jail with bond set at $150,000 by Judge Sheila Linden.

An investigation is still ongoing to determine the motive behind the shooting.
