One Rainy Wish: Lions Hope To Take Two From Midwestern

The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's and men's basketball teams return to the Field House today with a doubleheader against Midwestern State University.  The women’s game will begin at 2 p.m. and will be followed by the men's game around 4 p.m.

Women:

The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team got its first conference win of the season as the Lions knocked off Cameron University 94-89 on Thursday.
 

Krystal Pickron and Khala Riley both come off career-high games.Pickron with 25 points, Riley with 19 points played a career-high 39 minutes and had six assists and five rebounds.

The win brings A&M-Commerce to 5-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Lone Star Conference. Their 5-2 start is the best start to a season for the team under coach Jason Burton.

The Lions return to action against a Midwestern State University team that’s 2-4, 0-1 . MSU comes off a loss against Tarleton State in their season opener. The Mustangs committed a season-high 26 turnovers that lead to a TSU win 72-58. Whitney Taylor had a team high 22 points.

Men:

The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team was handed its first loss of the season after a thrilling 81-74 defeat in overtime to Cameron University.

Malik Albert led the Lions with 23 points, including the game-tying long distance shot to force overtime. On an inbound with five seconds left, he pulled up just inside half court and sunk the three from 45 feet. Trey Seymore had 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists in 42 minutes of play. De'Andre Carson had 14 points.

After making their first shot of the game, the Lions then missed 14 shots in a row. They ended the game shooting 32 percent from the field. Cameron had 36 points in the paint compared to just six for the Lions.

The Lions take on a MSU team next that’s 6-2, 0-1, also coming off a loss to TSU. The Cowboys held the Mustangs below 40 percent shooting for the first time this season with a 27.4 shooting percentage on the night. Brandon Neel had a team high 15 points for MSU.
