March 2, 2007 – Now located on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce, the Northeast Texas Children's Museum is celebrating its new home Saturday afternoon from noon to 4.
The museum recently moved to the northwest corner of Highway 50 and Culver Street/Loop 178. The former Watson Center building has been converted to handle a variety of activities and programs.
Museum director marypaz invites everyone to share birthday cake honoring The Cat in the Hat's 50th birthday and make your own tall striped hat. Help paint the Art-a-saurus, try out a French Horn, get your face painted, experiment with magnets, and go on a scavenger hunt.
At 3 p.m., marypaz said Chin Woo will perform the Lion Dance and give kids a chance to be part of their own parade! The Chin Woo performers will also demonstrate various martial arts using swords and other props.
Museum hours are Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m. The website is www.netxcm.org.
