Fannindel ISD is proud to announce the completion of a new playground structure at our elementary campus in Pecan Gap, Texas. The structure has two slides, a large multilevel platform to walk on, and four different devices for climbing.

“The children at Fannindel Elementary School are very excited about the new structure. We know it will provide many, many years of fun for our students,” said Fannindel Elementary Principal Drew Thomas.

The structure was built in large part to a substantial donation by John Banister, a resident of Ladonia, Texas.

“Mr. Banister is a retired Lieutenant Colonel, having served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1991. It is hard to define what makes a hero. I believe a hero is someone who looks out for the wellbeing of others, no matter the cost to themselves. Mr. Banister has already proven to be a hero for bravely serving in our nation’s military for many years. His recent generous contribution to the children living in his community has just solidified his status as a hero,” said Principal Thomas. “Fannindel ISD would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to Mr. John Banister.”
