Paris building collapses, scattering debris

PARIS - No injuries were reported after a vacant building in downtown Paris collapsed Monday afternoon.

The Paris News reports that city officials had to close Bonham Street for awhile to clear up bricks and other debris that had scattered into the roadway. The building had been empty for some time and the roof had partially collapsed during a snow storm several years ago.

The collapse came a day after dozens of bricks came loose and fell from the 12thstory of Whitely Hall on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus. No one was injured and the interior was declared safe for students to remain inside.
