Paris City Manager to be suspended

By Scott Harvey

Paris – Following a one and a half hour executive session Monday, the Paris City Council voted 4-3 to begin the process to terminate City Manager Kevin Carruth.

The city attorney will now draft a resolution to suspend Carruth for what is described as a failure to comply with contractual obligations, deficient performance and failure to comply with established policies and procedures.

Mayor Will Biard was joined by council members John Wright, Steve Brown and Edwin Pickle in a vote to suspend the City Manager, while Mayor pro-tem Joe McCarthy and council members Jason Rogers and Rhonda Rogers voted against.

The suspension, once drafted, must be approved during a public meeting.

Carruth is the sixth city manager to hold the position since 2004.
