Paris hospital cutting staff

By Kevin Jefferies

Paris, Texas – The Paris Regional Medical Center has begun the first parts of a plan to cut staff. Rising costs that have expenses up more than $650,000 in the first five months of the fiscal year have prompted the move. Department heads were called in last week and told to begin identifying positions that could be eliminated.

The hospital is also tightening policies on overtime, extra shift bonuses, and more.

The first cuts will be voluntary. Those serving in a position that is eliminated will be notified and allowed to work for a time while pursuing other employment opportunities.
