Paris ISD struggling with missed school days

By Scott Harvey

Paris – Winter storms over the past two weeks have left area school districts with multiple makeup days due to cancellations for bad weather.

Most districts are facing between four and seven makeup days, while the Paris ISD is currently 15 instructional days behind their regular schedule. Officials were forced to cancel classes six times due to bad weather, but coupled with construction and campus renovations this past summer, the start of school was delayed two weeks.

Changes to accommodate some of those days include a makeup for Saturday, February 26 to allow for another instruction day prior to TAKS tests. There's also been a second bad weather makeup day scheduled for mid-April.
