Paris Junior College expansion in Greenville

By Kevin Jefferies

Greenville – Paris Junior College has announced plans to build a campus in Greenville. The new community college would be built on 172 acres adjacent to the Greenville High School and ground could be broken on the new project by the end of 2006 with classes held as soon as Fall 2007.

The project will be an expansion of the current PJC-Greenville Center, and will double student capacity. Current enrollment at the center is around 1,000 and the capacity of the new full-service community college would be at 2,000. Officials hope that the new project will not only provide more educational opportunities for more people in Hunt County, but also hope the center will bring a higher profile for Greenville, attracting new people, business and industry to the area.
