Paris News editor witnesses store robbery

By Kevin Jefferies

Paris, Texas – Paris Police are looking for two men who robbed a Kwik Chek convenience store Wednesday night. Managing Editor of the Paris News Phillip Hamilton, wife Ursula, and their three children witnessed the robbery as it unfolded. The couple and their children had pulled into a parking space facing the store when they noticed two black males acting suspiciously. They observed the men as they pulled white handkerchiefs or bandannas over their face and entered the store. Hamilton said he saw one of the men at the counter while one stood by the door for a few moments, then both fled the scene in the direction they had come.

Ursula Hamilton then entered the store to check on the two clerks while Phillip Hamilton began following the two suspected robbers. Hamilton followed the men for a short time while they entered and ran through a nearby duplex apartment complex. Hamilton broke off pursuit when he realized there could be serious danger to his small children still in the vehicle.

No arrests have been made in the case and Paris Police are investigating.
