Paris policeman Pedro Barrios is on administrative leave while authorities investigate allegations of criminal behavior on the part of the officer.

On Tuesday, Paris police released a statement saying that on Sept. 3, the department received allegations of criminal mischief and stalking against Barrios. Paris police contacted the Texas Rangers to begin an investigation of the charges, the release said.

Barrios was arrested, booked into the Lamar County Jail and later released on bond, officials said. Criminal Mischief is a class A misdemeanor. Stalking is a third-degree felony for first-time offenders, and a second-degree felony for repeat offenders.
