Paris resident appointed to state task force

Paris – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed licensed counselor and Paris resident Pam Russell as one of five professionals to the Task Force to Reduce Child Abuse and Neglect.

Perry's office formally made the announcement this week.

Russell is an author and co-owner of Paris Counseling Center. The goal of the task force is to establish strategies for reducing child abuse and neglect and for improving child welfare in Texas. The group was commissioned by the 81st Texas Legislature.

Russell is a member of a number of organizations including the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards and Texas A&M University Commerce Social Work Advisory Board.
