Paris traffic stop results in drug seizure

By Courtney Krisak

Commerce – Two people were arrested following a traffic stop in Paris Wednesday night that resulted in a drug seizure.

Charlesetta Tolbert, and Walter Lane were arrested after authorities found crack cocaine in their car.

According to Crime Information Officer Matt Birch, the vehicle was pulled after the driver failed to use her turn signal. When Officer Rowton with the Paris Police Department was given permission to search the vehicle he discovered what was later identified as crack cocaine.

The passenger, Walter Lane, tried to destroy the evidence by hiding the drugs, and a struggle reportedly ensued.

Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone. Lane received an additional charge of tampering with physical evidence.
