Parks and Recreation Director to retire

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The City of Commerce will be losing the services of its Parks and Recreation Director.

Long-time Commerce resident Bob Mills will be stepping down at the end of the year, retiring after serving at the post for the past five years. The announcement was made during Tuesday's City Council meeting.

He stressed the importance of hiring a successor that is up-to-speed with the projects and issues currently being addressed within the Department. Mills is currently working with the Commerce Parks Project Committee to receive state funding for new playground equipment for area youth.

Mills has been a frequent guest on KETR, coming to us every Friday morning after 8:00 a.m. with updates of activities within the City's Parks and Recreation Department. Mills' final day in office will be December 31.
