Patient injures Wood County Constable

Mineola – A Wood County constable is injured after being attacked by an unidentified mental patient in Mineola.

The patient reportedly became combative with officials from East Texas Medical Center, who proceeded to call in Constable Ed Shadbolt for assistance. An altercation with Shadbolt and the patient would then ensue.

Shadbolt drove himself back to his office, but was then transported by ambulance to Tyler.

Wood County authorities plan to interview him before pressing any charges against the patient.
