COMMERCE - A formal dedication ceremony for the New Music Building on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce is scheduled for this Friday.
The event will take place in the Finney Concert Hall, beginning at 10:15 a.m., and will feature performances by the A&M-Commerce Brass, Jazz Ensemble I, Panimation the Steel Drum Band, piano soloists and Chorale.
President Dan Jones will also address the audience. Guest speakers include State Senator Bob Deuell, State Representative Dan Flynn, Congressman Ralph Hall, A&M System Chancellor John Sharp and President Emeritus Keith McFarland.
Those who did not receive an invitation but would like to attend can reserve a seat on a first-come-first-served basis by contacting Nancy Melton, at Nancy_Melton@tamu-commerce.edu.
The $30 million building features not only the Finney Concert Hall, which seats 500 people, but a 75-seat recital hall; both tunable performing venues. Faculty and students moved into the new facility last fall. An original ceremony this past winter was cancelled due to inclement weather.
The dedication ceremony will be immediately followed by a self-guided building tour.
