Greenville – Greenville voters will decide in May whether to allow bingo games for charity.
City Secretary Deborah Newell will now review and verify the petition has the necessary 300 signatures to be placed on the ballot.
The petition was circulated by the Greenville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. Several local organizations have expressed interest in hosting bingo fundraisers as other fundraisers have not been as successful.
Greenville is seeking to become the only Hunt County city to legally allow such games for charity. If approved in May, they would join the cities of Sulphur Springs, Paris and Garland.
