Pipeline through Texas another step closer

CUSHING, OK - Canadian proponents of TransCanada's Keystone XL project are applauding U.S. President Barack Obama's directive to expedite the approval process for the 485-mile southern leg of the oil pipeline to Texas.

They also urge the president to approve the northern leg from Alberta to Oklahoma. Obama made the announcement regarding the Gulf Coast stage while visiting the pipeline hub of Cushing, Oklahoma on Thursday.

Upon permit approval crews can begin work on the pipeline, which will run through 14 Texas counties, including Lamar, Delta, Hopkins and Wood counties.
