PJC to offer small business workshop

Commerce – A free workshop for starting and operating a small business comes to Commerce this week.

Live the Dream! is sponsored by Small Business Development at Paris Junior College. According to Director Pat Bell, the seminar will be held Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at the Commerce Chamber of Commerce downtown.

Topics will include legal requirements of starting a business including the different forms of business organization and their advantages and disadvantages, conducting a feasibility study, writing a business plan, getting a sales tax permit, types of financing available for a start-up business, and what lenders want to know, as well as information on SBA guaranteed loan programs.

Free counseling to start or expand a small business is available by appointment in Commerce each Thursday at the Commerce Chamber of Commerce, 1114 Main Street. To register for the free workshop or schedule an appointment for free, confidential counseling, call the Chamber at 903-886-3950.
