Police chief, officer face criminal investigation

By Scott Harvey

Trenton – A Fannin County police chief and one of his officers have been indicted by a grand jury for official oppression.

Named in the indictment were Trenton Police Chief George Warren and Officer James Davenport.

According to Fannin County District Attorney Richard Glaser, the two officers subjected a suspect to detention, seizure, or disposition that they knew was unlawful while they were acting as public servants. The incident in question occurred last August.

Both Chief Warren and Officer Davenport will remain on the job as of now. The Trenton City Council has opted not take any action until the criminal investigation is finished.
