Police investigate fire at house where shooting occurred

A fire Monday night heavily damaged a Commerce house that was the scene of a shooting last week during which two people were wounded.

An investigation is underway into a fire Monday night at a Commerce residence, which was the scene of a shooting last week which left two people wounded

The Commerce Fire Department responded at 9:36 p.m. Monday to a structure fire at 1308 Lee Street. Upon arrival, the front of the house was heavily involved.

The department reported no one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured. The department extinguished the fire and an investigation into the incident was ongoing as of Tuesday afternoon.

The residence was the scene of a shooting last week and the fire department is reported to be working with the police department in conducting the fire investigation.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Commerce Police Department were dispatched to the home on a shots fired call.  Upon arrival, officers found two persons with gunshot wounds. Several shots had been fired and it was believed the incident started as a dispute earlier in the day.

Both gunshot victims were transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center at Commerce and later  to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

The Commerce Police Department had not released any further details concerning the shooting as of Tuesday.
