Possible resolution in Greenville-L-3 dispute?

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – Both sides were ordered this week to present any pending motions in the case by August 1.

One of the remaining issues is whether the 354th District Court has jurisdiction to make any rulings in the case regarding the proposed re-plat of Major's Field Municipal Airport. A temporary restraining order preventing the re-plat, which would divide the airport from one tract into four, was also extended this week until September 1.

L-3 claims the city is using the re-plat to make the airport property taxable, which would circumvent a decision late last year by Chief Appraiser Brent South that the airport property was being used for public purpose.
