Prescription drug ring busted in Cooper
During an undercover investigation in collaboration with Miller’s Pharmacy, the Delta County Sheriff’s office arrested four people for prescription drug fraud last Thursday afternoon.
The investigation took just 24 hours, revealing seven fraudulent prescriptions for controlled substances were called in (of which two were transferred from the CVS Pharmacy in Sulphur Springs).
“The drugs were fraudulently called in by a person claiming they represented doctors that practice in Hopkins County,” explained Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith in a press release. “After a several hour stakeout by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Constable, Department of Public Safety and Hopkins County Special Crimes Unit the four were picked up immediately after they purchased the drugs. This is a rather large drug ring and further investigation is expected to result in additional arrests.”
Some of the controlled substances included hydrocodone and Xanex. Because of the mind-altering properties these drugs are commonly abused, and they have a significant illegal street value.
The four arrested for Organized Criminal Activity included Tremayne Dominique Jones, Shalisa Shyann Dugan, Lastarya Lorretta Kidd and Terrence Ford all from Sulphur Springs, Texas.
