Pressure mounts on Hunt County Sheriff

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – Hunt County Judge Joe Bobbitt issued a letter Tuesday demanding Sheriff Don Anderson produce an official bond required by local government code, according to the Greenville Herald Banner. The issue of the existence of the bond has been a point of contention since $17,000 was reported missing from the Hunt County Sheriff's office.

Sheriff Don Anderson says he has the bond, but has not produced it for the Commissioner's Court. Anderson said there are more important things worry about, such as protecting citizens.

The sheriff is required to carry a position bond as well as a personal, official bond made payable to the governor. Anderson was first asked to produce the personal bond last February.
