Pretrial hearing set for Hunt County murder suspect

Greenville – A pretrial hearing is set for today in Hunt County where the defendant is facing a possible death sentence if convicted.

27-year-old John William Trotman III, of Mesquite, has pleaded not guilty to the stabbing death of Ryon Rhoden, of Greenville, in November, 2007. Wednesday's trail is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Trotman remains in custody at the Hunt County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond. It was unclear what items may be considered during today's hearing, as the files in the case have been sealed.

At last report, the start of jury selection had been scheduled for Sept. 28.
