Probation to be revoked for Commerce man

By Brad Kellar

Commerce – One of two cousins from Commerce, placed on probation last year for the armed holdup for a local store, is now facing a prison sentence.

During an April 9 hearing, Justin Aaron Harper-Smith admitted to violating his probation. Harper-Smith is now facing a final hearing on July 8.

He and another suspect entered open pleas of guilty last February for the robbery of Chicken Express in Commerce. They received 10 years of probation, apiece.

The Hunt County probation department filed the motion to revoke Harper-Smith's probation after he was alleged to have committed theft and fled from a police officer in January.
