Proclamation for KETR Day

Commerce –

The City of Commerce
PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, April 7th, 2005, marks the 30th anniversary of the day that KETR began broadcasting to the Commerce community from the first floor of the Journalism and Graphic Arts Building on the Texas A&M University-Commerce Campus; and

WHEREAS, when KETR first hit the airwaves in 1975, it radiated at only 10,000 watts and because of a state appropriation, had a total cost of $57,000; and

WHEREAS, KETR is funded in part by the Corporation of Public Broadcasting and is a proud affiliate of National Public Radio, America Public Media and the Associated Press; and

WHEREAS, over the last 30 years, KETR has been the source for up to the minute local news, weather, sports and information for Commerce and has won numerous awards including two prestigious Edward R. Murrow awards for its commitment to community service and the people of Commerce and Hunt County; now

WTHEREFORE, I, Sheryl Zelhart, Mayor of the City of Commerce, do congratulate and commend KETR on the special occasion of their 30th anniversary and hereby proclaim April 7, 2005 as,

KETR DAY

in the City of Commerce, Texas and I urge all citizens to join me in extending our sincerest wishes for KETR's continued success.
