Hopkins County – Another area highway project by the Texas Department of Transportation will be addressed during a public hearing Thursday.
The project will encompass about 2-3 miles of State Highway 158 near the Seymour community in Hopkins County. Crews plan to build a curb and gutter section within the existing right-of-way.
The long-term plan by TxDot will cover an even larger portion of State Highway 158, which will stretch south to the Wood County line.
TxDot and safety officials out of Austin will be in attendance to answer any questions, plus make a presentation as to a number of control devices needed during the project, such as improved striping, larger signs and speed reduction. Officials will be looking to take bids on the project in the fall.
The informal meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Seymour Church of Christ, located nine miles south of Sulphur Springs on Highway 158.
