Public hearing for new hotel set for Tuesday

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A new hotel is getting closer to reality in Greenville. The City Council intends Tuesday to conduct a public hearing and take a final vote on whether to approve zoning for a new La Quinta Inn hotel along Interstate 30.

The Planning and Zoning Commission gave its conditional approval last month for a preliminary plat, or site layout, for the hotel.

The La Quinta Inn Addition is one of three lots which are targeted for development behind the Mitsubishi auto dealership and United Rentals along the eastbound Interstate 30 service road. An access road to the site for the proposed four-story hotel would be built between the two businesses, with additional access via the planned extension of Traders Road.
