Public hearing for wastewater treatment plant

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A public hearing is set Tuesday regarding the new wastewater plant in Greenville. The hearing is designed to discuss potential environmental impacts of the $20 million project, along with alternatives, if any. The hearing is included as part of tonight's regular Council session, starting at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building Downtown. The planning stage for upgrading and replacing the current wastewater plant has been underway for about a year and the entire project is expected to take until sometime in 2011 to complete. The existing Wastewater Treatment Plant was built 1953. It was expanded in 1963 and received its last major upgrade almost 30 years ago.
