lionathletics.com

Junior defensive lineman Toni Pulu was named the Lone Star Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week. It's the third time a Texas A&M University-Commerce football player took weekly honors this season.

Led by constant pressure by Pulu, the Lions held the Tarleton State to just 387 yards including 38 yards rushing.  Pulu was consistently in the backfield as he accounted for three tackles for loss, two sacks and a quarterback hurry. The Texans entered the game as the 21st best rushing offense in the country and second best in the LSC before being controlled all night.

Pulu is the second defensive player for A&M-Commerce to claim defensive weekly honors as linebacker Tu’u Liu earned the recognition in week.  Quarterback Tyrik Rollison was the first Lion player to be recognized by the league as he took home offensive honors following week one.

The Lions, who are riding a three-game winning streak, travel to Angelo State for a match up with Rams on Saturday at 7 p.m.
