Rail meeting to be held Wednesday in Greenville

By Scott Harvey

Greenville – A regional rail group meets Wednesday afternoon to discuss future transportation and plans to rehabilitate a portion of its rail line.

The board of the Northeast Texas Rural Rail Transportation District (NETEX) meets at 2 p.m. in Greenville.

Board members will hear, discuss and possibly take action regarding a presentation of "Mobility 2035: The Metropolitan Transportation Plan for the Dallas-Fort Worth area." The plan could be used as a component of the Hunt County Transportation Plan, which is currently in its beginning stages.

Members will also discuss a rehabilitation grant to improve rail lines in Franklin, Hopkins, Hunt and Collin counties. The $115,000 figure requires a 20 percent match, or $19,000. The project, if approved, would be managed by TxDot.

Wednesday's meeting takes place in the offices of the Greenville Economic Development Corporation, located on the eighth floor of the Paul Mathews Building downtown.
