Rally scheduled on status of Postal Service jobs

SULPHUR SPRINGS - Postal employees across Northeast Texas will gather in Sulphur Springs Tuesday in an effort to keep their jobs.

Rallies are planned in every congressional district throughout the United States to inform the public about the financial status of the agency.

Postal workers plan to present a petition to officials with District 2 State Representative Ralph Hall's office which would free up prepaid money held in an employee's retirement fund. The legislation, if approved, would also allow the Postal Service to apply billions of dollars in pension overpayments toward the agency's financial obligations.

Tuesday's rally in Sulphur Springs takes place from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Post Office at 320 Church Street.
