Reality TV is good news for Commerce resident

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – Commerce resident Gerald Taylor had a taste of reality TV, and now he's got $20,000 for college to show for it. Taylor appeared on the series The Scholar which set several high school students from all over the country in a competition for a full four year scholarship to a school of their choice. A California student walked away with the grand prize, but Taylor was awarded $20,000 he plans to use at the University of North Texas.

Taylor plans to use the scholarship to pursue his love of theater and said he feels the experience has him much more prepared for his college career.
