Recent arrests may solve several area burglaries

By Scott Harvey

A weekend arrest by the Lamar County Sheriff's office could reportedly solve 20 to 30 area burglaries.

31-year-old Marcus Childress, of Commerce and 28-year-old Naethan Lemay, of Wills Point were arrested Saturday after they were caught allegedly breaking into three storages units at the Loop Self Storage Building in Paris.

On Sunday, Lamar County detectives and Commerce PD executed a search warrant at Childress' home, confiscating a large amount of property allegedly stolen in several recent burglaries. Lamar County Sheriff B.J. McCoy indicated the property matched the descriptions of items taken in several of their counties burglaries.

At last report, both Childress and Lemay were being held in the Lamar County Jail on $85,000 bonds each for burglary of buildings and the burglary of a motor vehicle.
